Abstract
What is meant by a ‘religious experience’? Is it the same as ‘spiritual’ or ‘mystical’ experience and how do such experiences differ from what we might call ‘ordinary’ experiences? Who has what kind of experiences and how do we hear about them? What could such experiences mean, how do we interpret them? This paper is intended to throw some light on questions such as these, and to indicate areas of further study.
